Jean Marshall Smith's Obituary
Jean Marshall Smith of Clinton, MD, passed away on January 10, 2022. Jean was born in Washington, DC., on September 16, 1947 to James and Bettie Wakenight. Jean is survived by her husband, Art; brother Tom; sons Jeffrey and Brian, and daughter-in-law Linda; and granddaughters Samantha and Gianna. She was a devoted wife, mother, mother-in-law, and grandmother.
Jean filled her life with family and friends, and many hobbies over the years. She enjoyed researching the family genealogy, basket weaving, playing folk music on the banjo and dulcimer, and filling several collections, including tea sets, antique croquet sets, cup plates, and suns. She was retired from the Prince George’s County Public Schools, where she held a variety of positions, including library assistant, middle school math teacher, and testing coordinator. She was also a long-time member of the Davies Memorial Unitarian Church in Camp Springs, MD. After retirement, she enjoyed summer trips to Bethany Beach, DE and to Staunton, VA for an annual folk festival. She also enjoyed spending as much time as possible with her granddaughters.
Relatives and friends are invited to a memorial from 3:00 to 5:00 pm at Lasting Tributes, 814 Bestgate Road, Annapolis, MD 21401 on Sunday January 30, 2022.
