Jay D. Huber's Obituary
Jay D. Huber, a 30 year resident of Heritage Harbour died on January 16th after a long struggle with dementia.
Born September 27, 1936 in Oswego, NY to the late Phyllis DuRie and Irving H. Huber, Jay graduated from Cornell University with a BA in Government, and later received an MA in Education from Inter-American University. He entered the USAF in 1959, and for most of his 21 year career, he was a Strategic Air Command pilot flying the KC-135. During his career he also taught ROTC at the University of Maryland and served in Viet Nam where he was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross.
After his retirement from the military, Jay spent 20 years with the Maryland Aviation Administration at BWI Airport, retiring in 1999 as Director of Operations.
Jay’s interests included travelling, being a soccer referee, spending time at his beach condo, getting together with family and friends, and tending to his home and garden.
For the past 20 years he was active in the Protestant community at the USNA Chapel serving as a lay reader and usher.
Jay is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Linda Holler Huber; two sons, Steven Crown (Tina), and David Jay (Jeanne) and five grandchildren; Ashley, Emily, Benjamin, Cassandra and Paige.
A memorial gathering will be held Thursday, January 23, at Lasting Tributes, 814 Bestgate Rd. Annapolis from 4 – 6 and 7 – 9 pm. A memorial service will be held Friday, January 24 at the USNA Chapel at 10 AM. Inurnment will be at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
The family expresses its gratitude to the staff of Assisted Living Well and Hospice of the Chesapeake for their compassionate care of Jay this past year.
