Janie Mae Sandle's Obituary
Janie M. Ballard Sandle of Gambrills, MD, the beloved daughter of Patsie and the late Willie L. Ballard, Sr., transitioned from this life on October 14, 2014. Janie wore many hats as wife, daughter, mother, sister, grandmother, friend, and colleague.
Janie was born on July 7, 1943 in Scotland Neck, North Carolina and was baptized at Crowell’s Baptist Church in Halifax, NC. She was also baptized in the Jordan River in the Holy Land. Janie attended school in the Halifax County School System and graduated from the Annapolis Continuing Education Program.
Forty-one years ago, Janie married Jesse Sandle, Sr., they were wed on September 29, 1973. She was employed and retired from the Navy Resale System after 25 years of service. After retiring, she became co-owner of the Watch Tune Up, Inc.
MiMi (as she was affectionately called by her grandkids) and Pop Pop joined Asbury United Methodist Church in the late 1970s where they faithfully served for over 30 years. During those years she served as a dedicated member of the United Methodist Women’s Ministry, Communion Stewardship, and Finance Committee.
She is survived by her devoted husband, Retired Master Chief Jesse Sandle, Sr.; her mother, Patsie Debrew Ballard; a daughter and her husband, Mrs. Demetrice & Mr. Bobby McAdams; a son and his wife, Mr. Gregory & Mrs. Chantice Cotton; a daughter, Theresa Williams-Wildy; a son, Mr. Jesse Sandle, Jr.; a special daughter-in-law, Karma Tunison Limes; grandchildren (Bobby McAdams II, Kyrsten Sandle, Jesse Sandle III, Geoffrey Cotton, Ashley Sandle, Daniel Cotton, and Darren Cotton); 5 beloved sisters and their husbands (Susie McNair, Patsy & Casper Smith, Bernice & Vernon Gordon, Selma & Clifton Allen, and Glenda & Roderick Shields); 3 doting brothers and their wives (Willie & Joyce Ballard, Kenneth & Katherine Ballard, and J. Carlton & Tammy Ballard); dear brothers-in-law and their wives (Johnny & Barbara Sandle and Leroy & Joann Sandle); a sweet sister-in-law (Rosa Marie Smiley); and a host of loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
She dearly loved and treasured her family and always looked forward to family gatherings. In her final days she was surrounded by those she loved. May Janie always rest in peace as Heaven has gained another angel while we forever hold her in our hearts.
