Janice Jacqueline Queen's Obituary
On May 6, 2023, Janice Jacqueline Queen passed away peacefully at age 74 after a courageous fight with Triple Negative Breast Cancer.
Janice was the mother of three children. However, she had many admirers who appreciated her zest for life and her ability to fill your spirit with love and fill your stomach with great food!
When Janice’s children were young, she worked multiple jobs to ensure that they had a good life. She always had a sincere smile and a witty joke to make you laugh. Her favorite saying was “I’m alright” – if she was alright or not. She was very independent and filled her down time with desktop puzzles, painting, drawing, and with games on her iPhone. Though Janice’s health was failing for years, few people knew the extent to which she struggled. Her joy for life and indomitable spirit helped her to push through the pain.
Janice is survived by her daughter Chassidy Harris, her sons Quentin Smith and Alex Smith, seven grandchildren, sisters Geraldine Bailey, Laverne Day, and Margaret Fields, her brother Lewis Day Sr. and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family and friends that she loved dearly. She was predeceased by her husband Richard Queen, her sister Gayle Walker, and her brother Alfred Day.
