Janet Elaine Hart's Obituary
Janet Elaine Hart (nee Gerlock) of Severna Park passed away peacefully on December 25th, 2023. Janet was predeceased by her parents, John C. Gerlock and Elaine C Dutey (nee Thompson) and her loving husband of 23 years, Clarence B. Hart Jr.
She was the loving mother of two sons, Joseph L Butler Sr. and James A Butler Sr both of Windsor Mill, MD and ‘Mom Mom’ to two grandsons, Joseph L Butler Jr., and James A Butler Jr, who she doted on and often recounted many precious memories of them growing up.
Janet was a devout Lutheran who loved the Lord. She was kind and thoughtful and had a wide circle of friends. Janet always thought and planned for the needs of others, before her own and helped whenever and however she could.
Janet worked as a lunch and recess monitor at Oak Hill Elementary School for 12 years and as a Clerk at John Hopkins hospital. She often spoke about how much she enjoyed both of these jobs because she was doing what she loved most -- spending time with children and helping others.
Her favorite past times were doing her crossword puzzles, which she took great pride in completing. She also enjoyed watching baseball games on TV and attending some at the ballpark, reading medical books, bowling, visiting the Honeybee Restaurant to enjoy her favorite breakfast, grabbing a pizza with friends and of course, playing BINGO with her wide circle of friends at the Elks Club in Severna Park.
In her belongings, Janet left a note to be shared in her obituary for her loved ones. It read:
“I love each and every one of you with all my heart and will continue to love you, always and forever.”
Viewing will be on January 8th from 1-3pm at Lasting Tributes at 814 Bestgate Rd, Annapolis, MD 21401. A short service of prayers and memories will take place after the viewing. A private interment will be held at a later date at Meadowridge Memorial Park in Elkridge, MD.
In lieu of flowers, please send any donations to St. Jude Children’s Hospital.
