James Henry Wood Jr.'s Obituary
James “Woody” Wood passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on August 28, 2022 at the age of 84 after a lengthy battle with Parkinson’s. He is survived by his adoring wife, Deanne, 3 children, Andy (Christine), Sherri (John) and Ken (Renee), 7 grandchildren (Jennifer, Lauren, Jimmy, Jack, Allie, Drew, and Cole), sister Jeani, many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Woody was born in Cambridge MD to James Wood Sr. and Marjorie Calta. He spent his formative years in Red Bank NJ, and attended Red Bank Catholic HS where he excelled in baseball and theater. After graduating with a Juris Doctorate from the University of Maryland, Woody spent the majority of his career as a labor negotiator with the U.S. government.
Woody was a loving husband and devoted father who brought laughter and joy to all of those around him. He was an avid golfer and spent his retirement traveling where he and Deanne spent quality time with family and friends. His bigger than life personality was only exceeded by the size of his heart. Woody never shied away from helping someone in need and never ever spoke ill of anyone. He was truly one of a kind and will be remembered fondly by everyone who was fortunate enough to know him.
