James William Nichols' Obituary
James William Nichols, known as Jim or Jimmy, was born in Fauquier County, Virginia, on November 30, 1939, to William Nichols and Marion Catterton. Jim educated himself and owned his own business as a professional painter/paper hanger in the Washington, DC, area for over thirty-five years. Jim loved his family and often spoke fondly of family members.
He loved music and enjoyed listening to many genres, particularly those from the 1940s, 1950s, and 1960s. He learned to play the harmonica and the violin and would often serenade you if you were around him. He also developed an interest in astronomy, contemplating the mysteries of the universe and what lay beyond. He was an avid motorcyclist but had to give up the hobby due to glaucoma and his impending blindness.
Jim was preceded in death by his father, William Nichols, mother Marion Catterton, and brother Bobby Gatton. He leaves behind a daughter, Gia'Donna Nichols-Holmes (Vanessa), grandson, Damien Nichols, sister, Eleanor Yerkie, brother, Billy Gatton (Charlotte), and many nieces and nephews.
