James Hopkins' Obituary
James "Dusty" Hopkins was born April 8, 1940 in Annapolis to the late George "Caddy" & Martha Hopkins, and attended Anne Arundel County Schools.
"Dusty" Hopkins, lovingly know as "Pop Pop" was loved unconditionally until the day of his departure, June 9, 2023, after a lengthy illness.
Pops retired after 40 years of servicing the State of Maryland working as a custodian at various locations throughout Annapolis. Pops enjoyed gardening, walking, babysitting, cleaning, and watching his favorite old western films and "Superfly".
Pops was married to the late Shirley Ann Travis, who passed away July 27, 1998. On November 11, 2000, he remarried Wanda Hopkins, who loved and cared for him until his death.
Pops was preceded in death by his brother, George "Teddy" Hopkins; sisters, Mary "Sissy" Spencer, Emily "Dee Dee" Johnson, and Ethel Ann Wells; brothers-in-law, James R. Johnson and Alexander Spencer; two nephews, Harold Spencer and Robert Johnson; nieces Penny Sellman and Janet Johnson.
Our beloved Dusty leaves behind, his wife, Wanda Hopkins; two daughters, Marlise Payne and Miko Johnson; his aunt, Cordella; one son, Omar Quarles; one brother, Ferdinand "Johnson" Hopkins (Catherine); five grandchildren, Brandon Travis, Jahmar Sherred (Tierra), Dominique Hunter, Saraya and Joshua Johnson; four great-grandchildren, Kaniya Travis, Lincoln and Aubrey Sherred, and A'Zaree Doens; one great-great-grandchild, Ky'Eir Travis; along with a host of nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.
