James Henry Henderson Sr.'s Obituary
James "Butter Cup" Henderson, Sr., departed this life on Thursday, March 13, 2014 at Anne Arundel Medical Center after a brief illness. He was born to the late Rachael Green and John Henry Henderson on May 30, 1934. He received his education from Skidmore Elementary and Bates High School.
James was a laborer by trade. James helped to build the Bay Bridge and worked on several other prominent projects at the United States Naval Academy while employed by Whiting & Turner.
One of "Butter Cup's" favorite hobbies was watching baseball; favorite team was the Baltimore Orioles. He also loved watching the games on T.V. In his younger years, he played on a baseball team called the "MD Giants".
Cuppie's other favorite past times was sitting down at the old mall with his brother, Dickey. They enjoyed riding from one end of Skidmore to the other. Larry Murray, Palmer and Joe Louis Henson frequently joined them. They were all hanging buddies.
James had a gift of kindness. He got so much joy in seeing his friends be happy. He loved being around his friends.
James and Anna Henderson (Cromwell) were blessed to have 4 daughters and 4 sons. He leaves to cherish his memory his loving daughters, Bonnie and Rita Henderson; sons: James Henderson, Jr. (Malvina), Michael Henderson (Denise) and Brian Henderson (Cynthia); Deborah Kent and Eric Henderson; brother, Thomas Green; sister, Della Allen; sister-in-law, Delores Green; and son-in-law, Wesley Tydings,Sr. He had 34 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, 1 great, great grandchild, 7 nieces, and 4 nephews. He was preceded in death by one son Reginald Henderson, Sr. and two daughters, Sandra Wilson, and Wanda Tydings.
