James Lawrence Hardesty's Obituary
James L. (Larry) Hardesty, 73, beloved Husband, Father, Son, Grandfather and Brother, passed away of natural causes at his home in Maryland on Wednesday December 3rd. Larry was a graduate of Valley High School in Louisville, KY and served 4 years in US Navy. He was a Sr. General Superintendent for Gilbane Co. and oversaw many building projects in the Washington DC and surrounding areas where he received several awards for excellence and project achievements. Larry was a friend and mentor. He had his own brand of humor. He enjoyed life and tried not to sweat the small stuff. He would always say "Ain't nothin but a thang." He appreciated a good meal, fishing, going to the movies and eating overly salted popcorn. He enjoyed attending Orioles games just to eat Jumbo Hot dogs. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his girls. He will be missed.
Larry is survived by his wife, Joy Hardesty (Dougherty); his mother, Margaret A. Just; son, Keith (Joann); two daughters, Paige (Danny), and Amy; three grandchildren, Kevin, Nick and Tony; brother, Paul (Lisa) Just; and one sister, Peggy (Richard) Hobbs.
A Memorial will be held on Friday, December 12, at Owens Funeral Home, 5317 Dixie Highway Louisville, KY 40126 from 4-8 pm.
Memorial donations can be made in his honor to St Jude's or Big Brothers Big Sisters of KY.
