J.E. "Bud" Jay, III's Obituary
J.E. “Bud” Jay III (83) passed peacefully in his Annapolis, MD home, surrounded by loved ones, on May 16, 2016. He was the beloved husband of Geraldine “Gerry” Jay for over 50 years and the devoted father of Betsy Jay, William Jay, Cynthia Jay, Terese Jay and Janet Jay Sovich. He is also survived by his much loved grandchildren, Emily, Derek, Ian, William, Melissa, Gabrielle and Anna.
Bud was born on December 4, 1932 in Dallas, TX. As a child he traveled extensively with his parents, Irene and Joseph Edward Jay II, and graduated from Bethesda Chevy Chase High School in 1950. Following his graduation from the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Bud served as a 1st Lieutenant in the US Army. He later experienced a successful career with both the State of Maryland and State of Florida, working in transportation safety. He lived with his family in Annapolis for several years where he was a board member in Epping Forest, and enjoyed sailing on the Severn River.
Bud spent much of his retirement with Gerry in Green Valley, Arizona where he golfed often, played bridge, served as the Vice President of the Green Valley Genealogy Society, and was a member of the American Legion.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, May 22nd at 1:30, with a memorial gathering to follow until 3pm at Lasting Tributes Cremation & Funeral Care 814 Bestgate Rd. Annapolis, MD 21401. Inurnment will be held privately at Arlington National Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Hospice of the Chesapeake, 90 Ritchie Highway, Pasadena, MD 21122 or the Epping Forest Chapel, c/o Jeanette Mudd, Treasurer, 1751 Drevar Trail, Annapolis, MD 21401.
