My neighbor Ida Jennings was known as "Mom" to our everyone in our family. She lived up to the name as she was the quintessential maternal figure to everyone who knew her. Her wisdom, commitment and loyalty to family and friends was of a kind not often seen in today's society and it was that which made her so very, very special to us all. I had the opportunity to interview Ida for a piece I was writing for a community newspaper some years ago and on entering her home I saw it was stacked almost floor to ceiling with Christmas gifts for disadvantaged people in the area none of whom she knew! Ida ever modest, was most reluctant to have that side of her generous nature mentioned in the newspaper feature and that was so typical of her. She was not a Sunday Christian. Ida Jennings lived her faith 365 days a year and was happy to be of service to all who needed it. She never turned anyone in need away it was simply who she was. Ida was the foundation of " loving family" in the old world sense she loved life and shared that love with others, freely, unconditionally and without expectation. My family and I are honored to have known her and we are better people for having done so. Love, Peace and Flowers dear "Mom Jennings". Rest in peace alongside your husband. You will both be very, very missed..
