Homer Galen Green's Obituary
Galen H. Green, 82, a resident of Riva for 38 years, passed away on August 26, 2017 while under hospice care with his wife by his side. Galen was born in 1935 in Portage, Ohio to the late James and Beatrice (Stein) Green. After the death of his father in 1939, he moved to the D.C. area along with his mother and two brothers James (deceased) and Roger. Galen worked as a construction project manager for many years in the private sector before retiring from the Federal Government (GSA) in 2008. Galen was life-long Jehovah's Witness and at the time of his death was associated with the Edgewater Congregation. He enjoyed travel, home improvement projects and spending time with family. Galen is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years, Ruth Ann Green, sons Ronald and Daniel Green, daughter Gale Kieng, and grandchildren Jennifer, Sydney, Zachary, and Julia. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 2 at 11:00 am, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, located at 65 Tarragon Ln, Edgewater, MD. In Lieu of Flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of the Chesapeake or the charity of your choice.
