Helen "Boots" Raglin's Obituary
Helen "Boots" Raglin, 85, a resident of Stevensville, MD for 40 years and prior to that Glen Burnie, MD passed away Saturday, October 8, 2022 at Regency Park Assisted Living in Gambrills, MD. She was born in Baltimore, MD on November 21, 1936, and born to and raised by her mother Eleanor Potee.
Helen was a “people person” through and through. Her devotion to people and community afforded her many positions which include a cashier, a school bus driver, in addition to holding customer service and sales positions in the airfreight transportation industry. Finally, she concluded her career with employment at the Commissioner's office in Queen Anne's County before retiring in March 2011.
She was very much involved with the local chapter of the Red Hat Society, namely the Queen Anne Bay Ladies of Stevensville, MD and held the distinct honor as "Queen" of their local chapter for quite some time. She had a number of hobbies that she very much enjoyed, including crocheting (often times for others), coloring, and putting puzzles together. Above all, her favorite hobby was relaxing and enjoying the magnificent views, beautiful sunrises and countless sunsets over the Chesapeake Bay and often referred to their home as "Our little piece of Heaven"
While she was deeply devoted to her immediate family, she was very much a part of a much larger extended family. She spent every moment possible pouring her heart into holiday activities, acknowledging birthdays, anniversaries, and special achievements. Helen would always have an open ear for others when they needed to share pain and joy. She knew just when to give a dose of loving care or laughter.
Helen is survived by her husband of 52 years, Edward "Ed" Raglin; her son, Donald McLamb and his wife, Maria; her daughter, Trisha Martin and her husband Gary; her two grandchildren: Seth and Sarah; her sister, Verona "Sissy" Biller; and a long list of loving nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Dewey McLamb; and her siblings: Jim Thomas (Annette), George "Scobbie" Walden, and her sister, Rhea "Sofie" Walden.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
