Hazel Marie Liff's Obituary
On December 7, 2022, Hazel passed away. She is survived by her loving husband Sam. His love for her was beyond reproach. She was his hero, best friend, lover. She is also survived by her daughter, Cindy (Tony) Wolfe, 13 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and sisters Leona Rohrbaugh of Hampstead, Beatrice Thomas of Essex, Lottie McDonald of Lutherville, brother Elisha (Bud) of Keyser, WV. Hazel was preceded in death by four of her children, sons Mark Berkheimer, David Berkheimer, Anthony (Tony) Berkheimer, and daughter Catherine Burleson, and grandson, Jeffrey Burleson.
Hazel was the seventh of 14 children born in Boring, MD. Hazel worked hard all her life in the grocery business. Hazel married Sam in 1969 and moved to the Liff Family business in 1970, where she worked with Sam for 32 years. She still raised her children, did all the cooking, cleaning, household duties, and all other things great wives do. She also took care of her father-in-law, Albert, until he passed away in 1995, she and Sam sold the family business “Liff’s Market” in December 2001. They were the 3rd generation to manage the business that started in 1911.
After retirement Hazel and Sam moved to Riva, MD where they lived happily on “The Point” in Glen Isle where they had wonderful friends and neighbors.
Hazel and Sam volunteered for Meals on Wheels for 20 years and were named site volunteers of the year in 2009 and volunteers of the year for Central Md in 2019.
Hazel and Sam traveled a great deal of the time seeing much of the USA and the world.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, December 17th, 2022, at 1 pm at Lakemont Memorial Gardens in Davidsonville, MD.
