Harvey Rothstein's Obituary
It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the unexpected passing of Harvey Rothstein, of Pasadena, Maryland on June 29, 2022, at the age of 79.
Harvey is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Maria Rothstein; along with his three sons, Patrick Drews (Ann), Sean and Julie Tedesco, and Jonathan Rothstein (Amanda); four grandchildren, Lewis Tedesco, Josh Tedesco, Jackson Rothstein, and Jocelyn Rothstein; his dog Gigi, and many loving relatives.
He is preceded in death by his parents Charlie and Minnie Rothstein, his cousin Nicky Plotkin, his beloved pets David, Sam, Snowflake, Theo, Alex, Kathryn, Jackson, and Beignet.
Harvey was born on June 10, 1943, in Brooklyn, New York. After graduating from high school, he enlisted in the Army for several years. Afterward, he attended Hunter College in New York. While in college, he decided to pursue a career in real estate, which eventually brought him to Rochester, New York in 1977. It was there that fate (and a Kentucky Fried Chicken franchise) introduced him to the love of his life, Maria. They married in 1978, and by 1979 relocated to the Baltimore, Maryland area where he became Director of Real Estate for DavCo, a Wendy’s franchise. He eventually retired as CEO in 2015, after 36 years.
Professionally, he was known for his compassion and his ability to fairly negotiate a real estate deal that was mutually beneficial for all involved. He mentored several young people and helped them realize their dreams, whether in real estate, or any other pursuits.
In 1985, he embarked on a project for which he was incredibly proud: the purchase and development of a 237-acre parcel of land. This would eventually become an exclusive development of 28 homes known as Bodkin Pointe, and the site of a dream home that he and Maria designed themselves.
Harvey’s greatest loves were his family—especially his children and grandchildren—and his dogs.
Harv was a legendary fisherman and charter member of the “Ugly Old Men” fishing crew. He was an avid gun collector, a curator of timeless automobiles, a perpetual jokester, a Grill Master, and an enthusiastic and captivating storyteller.
Harvey could always be counted on to offer sound advice, and his generosity was without measure. He was a larger-than-life character, who touched a lot of lives and will be deeply missed by all who were lucky enough to have known and loved him.
In lieu of flowers, Harvey's family invites loved ones to make a memorial donation in his name to:
