Harold James Mayo Jr.'s Obituary
Harold James Mayo Jr., the son of Harold J. Mayo Sr. and Yvonne Mayo, was born in Baltimore, MD on September 2, 1965. Harold Graduated in 1984, from Annapolis Senior High School. Where he played on the JV and Varsity Football team. He was very big on education, and later decided to continue his education at University of Pheonix where he received his Associates Degree in Nutrition. He then went on to pursue a Bachelor's Degree in Concentration in Acquisition and Contract Management at the time of his passing.
After high school he entered The United States Army on June 2, 1986, and decided to make it a career serving 34 yrs. Several of those years were enlisted as Army Reserve, dedicating one weekend a month and two weeks out of a year to active duty. Harold later returned to active duty. He retired on October 31, 2019. He received numerous medals, awards, and certificates which include the Meritorious Service Metal, Army Achievement Metal, Army Good Conduct Medal, Army Reserve Component Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal. Global War on Terrorism Medal, Humanitarian Service Medal, Non-Commission Professional Development Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Forces Reserve Metal, Driver, and Mechanic Badge.
While stationed at Fort Lewis, Washington, Harold met and was United in Holy Matrimony to Lovita Williams in Seattle, Washington on June 18, 1988. To this union two children were born Cortney and Monique.
Harold had many hobbies Most of all he loved working out at the gym and fitness, fishing, music (Tupac and Biggie were two of his favorite), gadgets, electronics, technology, spending time with his family, joking around, and talking and playing with his granddaughter. He was so kindhearted and loved to help and encourage anyone in any way that he could. Harold was a peacemaker with a soft-spoken demeanor and a smile that would light up any room.
Harold departed this life suddenly on November 25, 2022. in Elizabethtown, KY at Baptist Health Hardin Hospital. He was preceded in death by his Mother Yvonne Dudley, paternal grandparents Clara Mayo, Betsy, and Huston Wheeler, and stepfather Chuck Dudley.
He leaves to cherish his memory his beloved wife of 34 years Lovita, daughters Cortney Federal Way, WA and Monique Winter Springs, FL, and granddaughter Kamryn-Jade Mayo Federal Way, WA
