Harold "Hal" Allen Doersam's Obituary
Harold “Hal” Doersam, died peacefully at home in Annapolis on August 20, 2018 from glioblastoma. Born in Columbus, Ohio on July 27, 1947, he was the son of the late Ralph Doersam and the late Margaret Haney. After marrying his college sweetheart, Lise Oftedal in 1969, they embarked on his career journey that began as a boilermaker with Chicago Bridge and Iron and ended as a federal tax lobbyist with Household Finance in Washington, D.C.. After retirement in 1998 he took on his most important role: Granddaddies! He is survived by his two children: Sven Doersam and his wife Stephanie of Linthicum and Mabel Williams of Easton. Hal’s four beloved grandchildren include Katya, Gabe and Xander Doersam and Wren Williams. Hal enjoyed golfing, was a voracious reader, an avid follower of current events, and looked forward to his summers in Baddeck, Nova Scotia. Whenever his wonderful sense of humor was tickled, he would erupt in an infectious, full-throated laughter. Hal had a huge heart and a sharp mind, touching many lives with his generosity and wise counsel. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date.
