G.Roland Baldwin's Obituary
G. Roland Baldwin, 83, died peacefully at sunrise on the morning of May 10. Family and friends spent his last day with him.
Roland was born on February 19, 1929 in Bowie, in his home that is now Melvin Motors. He is the son of Margaret Jaeger Baldwin and George Monroe Baldwin. He moved to a farm on Saint Stephens Church Road in 1942. Roland attended the Davidsonville United Methodist Church where he met and later married his wife, Addie on September 9,1929. He was in the Army during the Korean War and stationed in Fort Breckinridge, KY and Fort Meade. Upon his honorable discharge, he became a land surveyor and draftsman engineer. Roland worked in Glen Burnie for Shives and Wimmer, and later in Columbia for Riemer Mugge and Associates.
Roland built his home where he resided for 60 years, on his family farm on St. Stephens Church Road. Roland and Addie attended the Nichols-Bethel United Methodist Church with their children, where he was very active. After his retirement, Roland traveled with family and church friends and devoted his time to his grandchildren. He enjoyed crossword puzzles, baking cakes and cookies for family and friends, NASCAR races, working on cars and tractors, camping, service to others, and had a wonderful sense of humor.
He is predeceased by his beloved son Michael Scott Baldwin; his brother, Harold Baldwin; and his sister, Dorothy Baldwin.
Roland is survived by his wife of 62 years, Addie Davis Baldwin; son, David Baldwin (& Susan); daughter, Kathy Musselman; grandchildren, Robert, Luke, Brock, Maggie, Michelle, Kristen, and Ryan; and a sister, Betty Anne Forney.
A celebration of life service will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday May 12, at Nichols Bethel United Methodist Church, 1239 Murray Rd., Odenton, where the family invites friends for a luncheon at the church hall from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., and to visit in the sanctuary from 12:30 p.m. to 1:30 p.m.
Burial will be held at Davidsonville United Methodist Church, 819 W. Central Ave., Davidsonville.
