Gregory Frederick Poage's Obituary
Gregory "Greg" F. Poage of Laurel, Maryland passed away suddenly at Prince George's Hospital Center on Thursday September 7, 2017 from complications of kidney disease.
Greg was born on August 13, 1948 in Hoboken, NJ, the son of Henry and Bernice (Bunny) Poage and graduated from River Dell High School in Oradell, NJ the class of 1966 and the University of Miami, Coral Gables, FL class of 1971.
Greg worked in the flooring and window treatment business for many years in Beltsville, MD before retiring in 2009. When not working, Greg enjoyed power boating, was an avid sailor, and a voracious reader. He kept a large Nautical library and enjoyed building scale models of small sailing vessels. He enjoyed going to diners and spending time with his family and friends at his favorite place Long Beach Island, NJ.
Greg was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Jeffrey and Stephen. Survivors include his former spouse Michelle (Brown) his daughter Risa A. (John) Corlett of Severna Park, MD and son Darin S. Poage of San Diego, CA, brother Russell (Susan) Poage, nieces Alexandra and Madeline of Berkeley Heights, NJ, and sister-in-law Cathy Poage of Long Beach Township, NJ.
Final arrangements will be handled by Lasting Tributes Cremation & Funeral Care. Donations can be made in Greg's name to Kidney.org or ASPCA.org. A memorial service celebrating Greg's life will be held by the family at a later date. Greg was funny and one of the kindest and most caring person you could ever meet, he always helped anyone he could. He is going to be greatly missed by his friends and family.
