Gregory Diazcok's Obituary
It is with profound sadness and a deep sense of gratitude for a life well-lived that we announce the passing of Greg Diaczok, devoted husband, loving father, cherished grandfather, and esteemed friend. Greg left this world peacefully on June 4, 2026, at the age of 79, surrounded by his loving family.
His parents, Pauline (Berbetz) and George Diaczok welcomed him into the world on September 20, 1946 in the Sheepshead Bay area of Brooklyn, NY. He grew up alongside his sisters Diana, Virginia (Rapalski), and Catherine, along with his brother Paul (predeceased).
In 1969, Greg married Maureen Hayward, and the two began a journey that lasted over 57 years. Along the way they raised three wonderful sons, Keith, Christopher (Adrienne), and Daniel (Suzanne). And welcomed four grandchildren Penelope, Logan, Andrew, and Emily to the fold.
Greg's love of electronics and engineering was evident early on, as a teen his hobbies included model airplanes, ham radio and guitar. His passions led him to Manhattan College, where he earned a BS of Electrical Engineering degree, and later, a MS of Electrical Engineering degree from the University of Dayton.
Over the next four decades, he was employed by the Air Force in Dayton, Ohio and Northrop Grumman in Baltimore. He was awarded many patents and awards in recognition of his work in Radar Engineering. His career allowed him the opportunity to travel the world. His contributions, while shrouded in secrecy, likely helped make the world a safer place.
Greg’s passions were clearly evident in his hobbies. He loved photography, guitars, cycling, sports cars, gardening, and astronomy. His refuge was the outdoors and he could frequently be found lying on the beaches in Rehoboth or kicking the Fall leaves in the Shenandoah Mtns., and kayaking on the Magothy River. At a later age, the thrill seeking boy in him found him trying downhill skiing in his 40’s (broken leg) and learning how to ride a motorcycle in his 60’s (broken ankle). He lived the life he always wanted and we are so grateful to have shared it with him.
The family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to everyone that helped in his difficult journey with cancer, especially towards the end. The dedicated staff at AAMC 4 North, Maryland Oncology & Hematology and Hospice of the Chesapeake, whose kindness and professionalism were a gift during a challenging time.
And most importantly, the family, friends and neighbors that helped shoulder the immense burden that weighs on us when we lose such an important part of our life. We can’t forget our pet cat Maggie, who was well loved by Greg and was by his side when he passed away.
May his gentle soul rest in eternal peace!
Donations can be made in his name to the Anne Arundel County Animal Shelter. Greg provided many a feline friend with a loving home.
