Grace Virginia Winn's Obituary
WINN, Grace Virginia (Kruizenga/Clark)
Annapolis, Maryland (Formerly of Portage, MI, Dunnellon, FL & Crofton, MD)
Grace Virginia (Kruizenga/Clark) Winn, age 95, passed away October 19, 2023, at Annapolis, Maryland. She was born April 11, 1928, in Kalamazoo, Michigan to Benjamin & Doris (Revore) Kruizenga & being their only child, she was their pride & joy.
As a 1946 graduate of Kalamazoo Central High School, she held 2 rare & amazing records: She never missed a day of school & she had straight A’s from Kindergarten through 12th grade! She graduated from Bronson Nursing School in 1949 & went on to receive her BS degree from Western Michigan University. While a Registered Nurse, she held various positions over 40 years, but her greatest joy came from her job at home raising her 3 daughters in Portage, Michigan.
She retired to Dunnellon, Florida at the age of 62 with her 2nd husband, Bill Winn. In her retirement, Grace spent much of her time travelling the world & visiting her children & grandchildren who were spread around the country.
She attended the United Methodist Church most of her life & enjoyed volunteering there, serving others.
She was a kind & gentle woman who leaves a legacy of being devoted to her parents & her family & that is high praise.
A special debt of gratitude goes out to Ginger Cove Retirement Center in Annapolis, Maryland, where she lived near her loving & dedicated daughter, Jody, & to the outstanding staff & caregivers there who treated her with such compassionate care for almost 14 years.
Grace is preceded in death by her parents, her first husband & father of her girls, William G. Clark, & her second husband, William D. Winn.
She is survived by her 3 daughters, Pam (Chris) Knapp of Oviedo, Florida, Cathy (Scott) Terpstra of Folsom, California, & Jody (Gail) Clark of Crownsville, Maryland, her 6 grandchildren & 11 great-grandchildren.
At her request, Grace has been cremated & will rest next to her loved ones in Mount Ever Rest Memorial Park in Kalamazoo, Michigan. A Celebration of Life service is planned at Ginger Cove’s Fellowship Hall, 4000 River Crescent Drive, Annapolis, MD 21032 on Saturday, January 13, 2024, from 3-4pm, with a reception immediately following the service. Off-site parking will involve taking a short shuttle to the venue so please plan to arrive early and meet with the family between 2:15 and 3pm. Please RSVP to the memorial service here: http://evite.me/v8YYgvzh85, where donations may be made in Grace’s name to the Anne Arundel SPCA, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
