Gordon L. Danoff's Obituary
Gordon Louis Danoff passed peacefully in his sleep on Monday, September 29, 2014. He was 81 years old. Gordon's interests in life were many, including boating, bird watching, fly fishing, photography, delicious food, cooking, and most recently painting. Gordon had a great appreciation for nature, especially the Chesapeake Bay, Shenandoah Mountains and Atlantic Ocean. He enjoyed music, cultural events and most particularly the Metropolitan and Virginia museums. His loves included his family who meant the world to him and several of the pet animals whose company he enjoyed.
Gordon's working life began as an apprentice in civil engineering before being drafted into the Navy where he served his country as an electronics technician. His career continued in the flooring industry where co-owned a carpet cleaning business in Virginia Beach, VA., and then spent over 40 years as a manufacturer's rep. and trainer, expertly teaching others the fine art and science of selling.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Ann, (nee Rutherford), sister Judy Kulterman, brother Michael Danoff. Children, Ruby Jo Hiller, Gary Danoff, Lisa Dustin, Ruth Danoff, Michele Danoff and Elaine Danoff. He also leaves grandchildren Sarah Hiller, Maurice Hiller, Jake Danoff, Ben Dustin and Alex Danoff.
A celebration of Gordon's life will be held on Sunday, October 5, 2014, at Lasting Tributes Cremation & Funeral Care, 814 Bestgate Road, Annapolis, Maryland, at 11 am, followed by a reception with the family. Locally, the family will receive friends and have a minivan on Monday, October 6, 7:00 pm, at the home of Ruby Jo and David Hiller.
