Geraldine Wolfe Yates' Obituary
Geraldine W. Yates, 93, passed away on August 5, 2017 at her home in Kent County, was born in Flemington, WV on May 14, 1924, along with her twin sister, Madeline to Charles B. and Elnora Mason Wolfe. An avid student, she was also President of the Thespians at Flemington, HS. When WWII broke out, she did her patriotic duty, helping manufacture electronics for the War Department at Westinghouse, Fairmont WV. Next, she served in the Army Cadet Nursing Corps at Monongalia Hospital, receiving her R.N. degree from West Virginia University. She began as an Obstetric Nurse at Johns Hopkins Hospital and worked as a Pediatric Nurse at hospitals in Detroit and Memphis. The culmination of her career was as Nurse Manager at Children’s’ Hospital in Baltimore. She did all this as a wife, mother and leader in Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts, and PTA. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Arthur G Yates Jr, she is survived by her son Arthur G Yates III of Gambrills, MD her daughter Emily Cassidy and son in law Randy Cassidy of Galena, MD, grandchildren Chris, Matthew, Andy, Amber and four great grandchildren.
