George Edward Naumann's Obituary
George Edward Naumann, 73, of Edgewater passed away peacefully and surrounded by family on October 31, 2018. George was born on July 12, 1945 in Syracuse, New York, and graduated from DeWitt High School in 1964. After one year of college at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, George enlisted in the United States Air Force. Following an overseas injury in 1968 he was brought back to Andrews Air Force Base Hospital for treatment, where he met Barbara Sue Lambden, whom he subsequently married. They had two children, Michael and Susan. George became a plumber in the Lambden family business in Washington, D.C. and worked there for over thirty-five years. George was preceded in death by his parents, George and Isobel Naumann, and his sister, Linda Callahan.
George loved spending time with family, collecting coins and antiques, watching planes and working on cars, including his 1969 Chevelle 396, which he bought new and kept in pristine condition to this day. He was able to fix almost anything. He had a peaceful and loving personality, and was known as “everyone’s best friend.” There was nothing he wouldn’t do for anyone.
George remained in Edgewater for the remainder of his life. He is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Barbara, and his two devoted children, Michael Naumann (and wife Tina) of Lothian, and Susan Naumann Ogden (and husband Joel) of Annapolis. He is also survived by four adoring grandchildren, Jacob and Cameron Naumann, and Samuel and Sophie Ogden, a large extended family of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and a community of friends and neighbors.
A visitation will be held at Lasting Tributes, 814 Bestgate Road, Annapolis, MD, 21401 on November 7, 2018, from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm with his funeral service occurring at 8:00 pm. Donations can be made to Woodland Beach Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 236, Edgewater, Maryland 21037.
