George Leeland Christenson's Obituary
George “Chris” L. Christenson passed away on Wednesday February 9, 2022 at his home in Annapolis Maryland after a 3 year battle with lung cancer.
Chris was born December 18, 1941 in Detroit Michigan. He served over 21 years in the U.S. Navy, mostly on destroyers. During his naval career he was awarded the Navy Expeditionary Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and Good Conduct Awards. After retiring from the Navy he attended Anne Arundel Community College and graduated with an Associate’s Degree in Architectural Technology. Chris worked in the architectural field for over 20 years.
He enjoyed traveling with the love of his life and attending his ship reunions throughout the country, and enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, attending their games and school events.
He is survived by his wife Ellen; children: Robert, Stacey, and Thomas; two daughter-in-laws, Jen and Bré; son-in-law Brian; grandchildren Liam, Nick, Kaylee, Allison, Colin, and Aiden; brothers: Ken, Daniel, Tim; and sister, Carol. He is also survived by his Aunt Joyce and numerous cousins.
The funeral service will be at St. Andrew by the Bay Parish, 701 College Pkwy, Annapolis MD, 21409 on Friday, February 18, 2022, at 11 am. Interment will be performed at a later date TBD.
