Genevieve Cromwell's Obituary
Genevieve Lee Cromwell, 91 of Arnold, Maryland died of natural causes August 24, 2016 at her daughter's home in Annapolis Maryland.
Born October 27, 1924 in Washington D.C., she attended Roosevelt High School, George Washington University and received her Bachelor of Arts in Musicology at the University of Maryland in 1983.
"Tee", as she was known, excelled in many different endeavors. The beloved pianist for the Carter School of Dance, a fill in organist for the Severna Park United Methodist Church in the 1960's, a member of the Annapolis Symphony Board and an accountant for her husband's law firm in Annapolis. She worked for the State of Maryland for the District 33 delegation from 1984 to 1995. She was appointed in 1998 by then County Executive of Anne Arundel County Janet Owens to the Property Assessment Appeals Board where she served until 2005 when her macular degeneration had begun to severely limit her ability to read.
Mrs. Owens recalls her as "One of the most dedicated members of the Appeals Board. Tee was smart, listened attentively, was kind and generous. She was a woman to emulate." She was known for her memory of birthdays, anniversaries, events and the names of ancestors, constituents, neighbors and acquaintances. All will miss her loving birthday cards and thank you notes.
In a lifetime of volunteer service, she initially worked from 1940 to 1946 for the American Theater Wing War Service at the Stage Door Canteen of Washington DC, and served as a Girl Scout Leader in the early 1960's. She was married to Roy Dobson Cromwell in 1948 and together they were active volunteers and supporters of the Annapolis Symphony Orchestra, Historic Annapolis, Anne Arundel Medical Center and the Anne Arundel County Democratic Party. She was a member of the John Peyton Memorial Association of Virginia.
Surviving are one son, Peyton Lee Cromwell of St Maarten, two daughters, Jane Cromwell Flaherty of Arnold Maryland and Gale Genevieve Cromwell of Annapolis Maryland, four grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren Many family of her heart, Yvette Davis, Elizabeth Andersen, Dottie and Andy Breyer, Don Dresser, Margie Gillespie, Peggy and John McCloskey, Marsha Perry, Karen Singleton and family, Cathy Trebelhorn, Jennifer Wade and the community of the Severna Park Methodist Church.
