Dr. Gary Wayne Scaggs, DDS, died at his home in Crownsville, MD, on Wednesday, September 21, 2022, at age 76. He is survived by his loving wife Nancy C. Scaggs, cherished sons Andrew (Kate Walker) and Adam and his joy, grandson Ma Read Obituary
I had the privilege of meeting Gary in Chile on an OAT trip, and then traveling again with him on an OAT trip to Iceland. I enjoyed our conversations and all the ribbings he gave me about my laugh. I'll miss traveling with him! Linda A. Heath - Ohio
I met Gary thru his cousin Kevin Black. He became my dentist till he retired. As a contractor, I was able to do some jobs for Gary, especially the front entrance he always wanted and was able to complete before he passed. He was a good guy and will be missed.
My parents knew Gary’s parents through our church. I met him in dental school and we shared many great times together over the last 48 years … dental school lab “soccer” games, playing softball, going to the Vu in College Park, playing volleyball in backyards, going camping, partying at oyster roasts, sharing G.I. Joe toasts, and in later years, talking “gardening”!
May he be at peace after he fought cancer so courageously. May Nancy, Drew, and Adam be comforted to know he lived his life without compromise and loved the three of you unconditionally!

I had the privilege of knowing Gary for many years. First as a first year faculty member when he was a first year student at the dental school, then for many years as he taught part time at the school and most recently as a friend sharing many breakfasts with him and other former dental school colleagues. I admired him for many reasons, shared his courage during his last days and will miss him greatly. God bless you, Nancy and his sons, and I pray His comfort in your days ahead. Rick Bradbury

I am very sorry for your loss .Dr Scaggs was my instructor in Dental school class of 1983...a fantastic professor....he helped me with my mom on my first fixed bridge...it lasted all the way to her last days ...I feel blessed to know him Sincerely Dr Larry D Epstein
Nancy and family! Gary touched so many lives while volunteering in Quiet Waters Park. We loved our friendship with he and his guardian Misty…please know you are in our thoughts and prayers..RIP my friend until we meet again. Love Carol & Bobby Emory.
