Gail Wilkinson's Obituary
Gail Irene Wilkinson of Cape St. Claire in Annapolis, MD passed Monday, May 06, 2013 at Anne Arundel Medical Center after complications with pneumonia and COPD.
Born December 16th, 194 to Trible and Bessie Wilkinson in Newport News, VA. Gail attended public schools there, graduating from Warwick High School in 1961. She also attended Lynchburg College and was a member of the tennis team. In 1968 she started work as a flight attendant for Capitol Air and spent the next 16 years doing what she loved most: traveling the world seeing foreign and exotic places, making Capitol’s passengers as comfortable as possible and dining and partying with her flight crew. Major surgery to remove a benign brain tumor grounded her in 1987. After a lengthy recovery she worked as a customer service representative for Heritage Cablevision in New Castle, DE. The tumor returned and more surgery was required leaving Gail permanently disabled. She moved to Annapolis in 1994 to live with her sister, Janet Wheeler Roper.
Survivors include her sister Janet, and her husband Henry Roper; her niece Danya Gail Wheeler Twigg and Danya’s daughter, Rachel of Salt Lake City, UT, her niece, Cindy Clark Wheeler and Cindy’s sons, Joshua, Timothy, and David also of Cape St. Claire. She was preceded in death by her nephew, Christopher Wheeler.
Memorial contributions may be made in her honor to Hospice of the Chesapeake, 455 Defense Highway, Annapolis, MD.
A memorial gathering will be held at 12:00 PM on Friday, May 10, 2013 at The Community of Cape St. Claire, 1223 River Bay Road, Annapolis, MD 21409.
