Gail H McConnaughhay's Obituary
Annapolis resident Gail McConnaughhay passed away in Annapolis, Maryland, on June 27, 2026. She was 78 years old.
Gail was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut, on April 18, 1948, the daughter of Edward and Elizabeth Harris. She spent most of her youth growing up in Briarcliff Manor, New York, with shorter stints living in Dallas, Texas; Miami, Florida; and Newton, Massachusetts, where she graduated from Newton High School. In 1968, she settled in Annapolis, Maryland, and married her husband, Jim, on December 1, 1979.
Gail worked in the offices of C&P Telephone during the 1970s, and it was there that she met Jim. Some of her greatest joys in life included cooking and entertaining, particularly during the holidays, as well as photography and visiting her family’s home on Chebeague Island, Maine. Gail was a warm, social, and friendly person who was her children’s biggest fan and could usually be found on the sidelines of their sporting events, taking pictures. Later in life, as an empty nester, she enjoyed frequently dining out with Jim. Their outgoing personalities helped them develop many friendships with bartenders, servers, and fellow patrons. She was happiest when surrounded by family and friends, with whom she shared many special relationships.
In addition to her parents, Gail was preceded in death by her half-brother, Donald Elliott.
She is survived by her husband of 46 years, Jim; her brother, Stephen Harris; her half-brother Charles Elliott; her children, Dustin McConnaughhay (Carla) and Bret McConnaughhay (Racheal); her stepchildren, Tonyia McConnaughhay, Taylor McConnaughhay, and Tiffany Matthaei (Derek); and her grandchildren, Carson, Molly, Nessa, Finley, Zoey, and Wren.
