Frederick Singer's Obituary
Frederick D. Singer, 87 passed away on Friday, April 5 in Annapolis, Maryland. Born in New York City, Fred and his wife Marijane were residents of Woodcliff Lake for over 45 years. Fred served in the Marine Corps for 14 years, in both World War II and the Korean War. He rose to the rank of Captain and received a Commendation Medal with Combat V. Following his military career, Fred worked at the Rochester Midland Corporation until his retirement in 1995.
Fred dedicated more than 40 years in service to the Woodcliff Lake community. He was a member of the Woodcliff Lake Council, serving as Police and Fire Commissioner. Fred was a member of the Woodcliff Lake Planning Board for many decades and was chair for 20 years. He was a member of the Woodcliff Lake Board of Education and Pascack Valley Regional Board of Education, and served on both boards as President. Fred was a member of the Woodcliff Lake Republican Club for over 30 years, and served as President and Municipal Chair. He was active in the Marine Corps League and Veterans of Foreign Wars, and served as Past Commander of Pascack Valley Post 8946 Veterans of Foreign Wars in Woodcliff Lake.
Fred’s wife, Marijane, passed away in 2010. Fred is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Bill Davis of Annapolis, MD, and his two grandchildren Ashley and Garrett Davis.
A graveside service will be held at Quantico National Cemetery in Triangle, Virginia on Thursday, April 25 at 1:30pm.
