Francis Patrick Flynn's Obituary
Francis Patrick Flynn of Arnold, MD, formerly of Syracuse, NY and Lawrence, MA, passed away peacefully on March 7, 2013 surrounded by his family.
He was born on March 13, 1934 in Methuen, MA, the son of the late Joseph and Elizabeth (Walsh) Flynn of Lawrence, MA. He was a graduate of Central Catholic High School in Lawrence, MA. He graduated from Northeastern University (Bachelors/Engineering), and George Washington University (Masters in Engineering Management). He also had a New York State Professional Engineer License.
Frank was employed by Syracuse General Electric Heavy Military for 20 years. He then relocated to Arnold, MD in 1974 and was employed by IITRI, ECAC, and the US Department of Commerce/National Telecommunications Information Agency (NTIA). He retired from NTIA in 2005 after 20 years of service.
He enjoyed golfing, bowling and gardening. He was especially proud of being a first generation Irish American.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Joyce (Gareau) Flynn of Arnold, MD; two daughters, Maureen F. Morris (husband James) of Dunstable, MA, and Elizabeth A. Flynn of Charlottesville, VA; a son Francis P. Flynn (Patrick) (wife Crissie) of Arnold, MD; four grandchildren, Sam Morris of Dunstable, MA, and Sean, Catrin, and Ryan Flynn of Arnold, MD; one brother, John Flynn (wife Alice) of Hampton, NH; and several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by one brother, William A. Flynn (wife Barbara) of North Hampton, MA.
A memorial mass will be held at St. Andrew By the Bay Church, 701 College Parkway Annapolis, MD 21409 on Wednesday, March 13 at 11 AM.
