Frances "Cookie" Karastamatis' Obituary
Frances Lee Karastamatis passed away on September 27, 2022, at age 79. Fran lived her last days in her daughter’s house surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Baltimore, MD on August 27, 1943, to Charles and Anna Dembinsky.
Fran is survived by her son, Sam Karastamatis and his wife Donna; her daughter, Mettina Martin and her husband Jim; and her son, Nicholas Karastamatis and his wife Nicole; her grandchildren Kristel and her partner Chris, Derek and his wife Amy, Samantha and her husband Nate, Kelsey and her partner Mark, Kyle, Benjamin, and Rachel; her great grandchildren Kaylie, Khloe, Annabelle, Penelope, Charleigh, Kambrie, Fiona, and soon to be born Clark; her brothers and sisters Sonny Dembinsky, Pat Lewis, Frank Dembinsky, Anna “Sue” Clauss, Jeanie Birsner, and Kathy Lozzi; and many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her husband James Karastamatis.
Fran was an ink specialist and lab group leader for Malco (Schlumberger) from 1982-2007. She changed careers to follow her passion late in life working for Lynne Brick’s as a fitness trainer, team leader, and was promoted to Operations Manager. Both career paths are emblematic of a life filled with love and leadership.
Fran was deeply devoted to her family. She spent every moment possible pouring her heart into holiday activities, sleepovers, and day trips. She always had an open ear for our pain and joy, knowing just when to give a dose of loving care or laughter.
Guests are welcome to join in celebrating Fran’s life at 10:00 am on Thursday, October 6, 2022 at Lasting Tributes Cremation & Funeral Care, 814 Bestgate Road, Annapolis Maryland, 21401. Because Fran lived an exceptional life and was loved by all, seating will be reserved for family and close friends. For all those who would like to attend the service virtually, the funeral home will begin the livestream event appearing on Fran’s Tribute Page at 10:00 am. If you are unable to attend the livestream event, there will be a playback function available.
