Frances Lou Jacob's Obituary
Frances Lou Jacob, 95 years, passed peacefully on the morning of June 24, 2026, at home.
Frankie was born in Peoria Illinois on August 26, 1930. Her parents were Mary Frances Boone Moore and Carl Richard Moore. Her childhood had her residing in many places including Mexico City, Illinois, Texas, New York City, and Baltimore. She and her dear sister Ellie spent many of their early years in Mexico; in fact, she spoke Spanish prior to learning English.
In Baltimore, she worked as an accountant for a few companies prior to meeting the love of her life, Melvin Jacob. Together, they raised five children in a busy household living in Baltimore, Lutherville, and finally, Severna Park.
Frankie was active throughout her entire life gardening, exercising, and doing housework and yardwork. Independence was important to her in her later years, and she maintained that fierce independence until the end. She had quite a green thumb with indoor and outdoor plants. She loved growing orchids for example. Some of her indoor plants are more than 50 years old. She was always eager to move with the modern world and learned how to operate a personal computer by taking computer classes at the local community college. In later years, she kept up with her email correspondence on her IPAD. She was extremely kind and considerate. Frankie was devoted to her family. She cherished visits with her own children and then grandchildren and eventually great-grandchildren. Likewise, her family cherished visits with her. Holidays were celebrated at her house such as Thanksgiving, Easter, and Christmas; these were family feasts of food and fun. She was known in the family as a master at grilling cheese sandwiches and for fixing delicious crab cakes and crab imperial. She was skilled with crafts such as knitting, crocheting, and sewing. She also loved her dogs Terry, Dusty, Casey, and Cocoa. In addition, she enjoyed games on her IPAD and played cards with other family members or solitaire to keep her mind sharp.
Frances is predeceased by her parents, her sister Eleanor Shaffer and her beloved husband, Melvin Edgar Jacob. She is survived by children: Dr. Mary Jacob, Aberystwyth Wales, Carrie Reilly (Rob), Daniel Jacob, Doris Wilson (Brian), Melvin Jacob (Sharon) and Lisa Jacob (daughter-in-law). Grandchildren: Daniel Jacob, Katie Reilly, Grant Wilson, Nick Jacob, Joseph Jacob, Hope Reilly, Holly Reilly, Ryan Wilson, Cameron Mueller, and Melody Jacob.Great grandchildren Miller Wilson, Ellie Reilly Low, Lexie Reilly Low, Rhett Wilson, Beau Wilson, Nathan Jacob, Griffin Wilson, Matthew Jacob, and Willow Wilson.
