Florence Anotado Marino 's Obituary
Florence Anotado Marino of Annapolis died at Anne Arundel Medical Center on Sunday, January 22, 2012 after a prolonged illness, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. She was 50.
Born in Iloilo City, Philippines on July 23, 1961, she was a dutiful daughter to Rev. Paquito Anotado and Lillia Guazon. She graduated from Elementary and High school studies from Central Philippine University (CPU). She started her college there, but was abruptly stop when she immigrated to the United States with her family in 1980. She was a certified medical transciptionist in Philadelphia, Pa and then went on to finish her Associates in Paralegal Studies from the University of Maryland, European Division in 1995. She faithfully served as a Department of Defense civilian employee while her husband was in active duty and DOD civilian in Europe from 1982 – 2006.
From 1983-1986, she worked in the Supply Department of the USS Orion (AS-18) while stationed in La Maddalena, Sardinia, Italy. Between 1987 and 1990, Mrs. Marino was a medical transcriptionist for US Naval Hospital in NS Rota (Spain). In 1989, she received NS Rota (Spain) employee of the year recognition. In 1990 and 1991, she was the secretary for the Resident Officer in Charge of Construction in NS Keflavik (Iceland). Mrs. Marino was a Staff Paralegal to the Staff Judge Advocate of Iceland Defense Force (IDF), U.S. Dept of Defense in NS Keflavik (Iceland) from 1990 – 2006. She flawlessly performed the duties of International Paralegal, Acquisition Law and Policy Paralegal, Clerk to the Iceland-U.S. Defense Council, Office Administrator, Supervisor, Legal Assistance Paralegal Office Manager, and Chief Legal Specialist for the Staff Judge Advocate’s Office. In 2006, she received the Department of Defense Joint Meritorious Civilian Award for her outstanding service to SJA, IDF in her valuable contributions to U.S. bilateral defense relationship with Iceland.
Florence and Jim met and married in Philadelphia on September 18, 1982 at the base chapel of the Philadelphia Naval Ship Yard.
Mrs. Marino was a loving wife and mother and was dedicated to her family. She was loved and admired by countless friends throughout the world.
Florence is preceded in death by her brother Johanan and survived by her husband Jim; daughter, Kristin; son, Jason; parents, Rev. and Mrs. Anotado; brother, Gene Anotado (Marj); sister Lilian Barbash (Ben); nephew, Cory; and nieces Emmie and Josie.
Friends may call at Lasting Tributes Cremation and Funeral Care, P.A. 814 Bestgate Road, Annapolis on Sunday January 28, 2012 from 4 until 6 pm or Tuesday January 31, 2012 for 4 until 6 pm.
A funeral will be held on Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at Lasting Tributes Cremation and Funeral Care, P.A., 814 Bestgate Road, Annapolis, MD 21401.
Burial will follow at Crownsville Veterans Cemetery, 1080 Sunrise Beach Road Crownsville, MD 21032.
