Ellen Elizabeth Ogle's Obituary
Ellen Ogle died peacefully May 25 at home surrounded by family after a brief illness. She was born June 4, 1927 in Frederick, MD to the late John R. and Kathern M. Gray.
Ellen grew up in N.E. Washington DC graduating with honors from Eastern High School. While living and working in DC she met and married her husband of 62 years, Ivan Ogle. After her husband retired from the Navy, they settled and raised their family in Mayo, MD. As a Cafeteria Manager in Anne Arundel County for 30 years she supervised Mayo Elementary, Tyler Heights Elementary, and Southern Senior High School.
After retiring, Ellen was active at the South County Senior Center, sewing and crafting. She was an accomplished needle worker, China painter, and quilter. Belonging also to the Annapolis Quilt Guild. She was a Past President of the LFRA, Branch 24.
She is survived by her husband, Ivan E. Ogle; children: John P. Ogle (Kathy) of Annapolis, MD, James M. Ogle (Betsy) of Hickory, NC, Kathern H. Yeager (Bill) of Queen Anne, MD, and Kristine R. Smith (Bowie) of Easton, MD; her brothers and sisters: James Gray, J. David Gray (Anita), Joseph Gray (Sandy), Janet Theokos, Jane Von Culin, and Joyce Marinucci; 8 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and her best friend: Jacqueline Potts of St. Petersburg, FL.
A funeral service will take place at Crownsville Veterans Cemetery 1122 Sunrise Beach Road Crownsville, MD 21032 at 10:45 am on Friday, May 30, 2014. Immediately following the funeral service a remembrance gathering will be held at Lasting Tributes Cremation & Funeral Care, 814 Bestgate Road Annapolis, MD 21401.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of the Chesapeake, 90 Ritchie Highway Pasadena, MD 21122.
