Ellen Rebecca Gordon's Obituary
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of a cherished soul, Ellen Gordon, whose life touched many, on July 21, 2025 at the age of 88. Though words can scarcely capture the depth of loss, we celebrate a journey marked by love, kindness, and dedication.
Born with a gentle spirit and a generous heart, she brought joy and warmth to all who knew her. Through life’s triumphs and challenges, her resilience and grace inspired friends, family, and community alike. Her laughter brightened the darkest days, and her wisdom offered comfort and guidance to all who sought it.
Throughout her life, she remained devoted to her loved ones. Whether sharing stories, lending a helping hand, or offering a listening ear, her presence was a constant source of strength and encouragement.
Ellen worked at the Social Security Administration and retired after 37 years. She loved to travel so much that she took on a position as a travel agent after retiring from SSA. Africa, Jamaica, Tokyo, Mexico, and the Caribbean are just a few of the places that she traveled. She also loved music and reading. She collected 100’s of books and would sit and finish a book in one sitting.
We hold close memories that will forever remain in our hearts. Though she may be gone from sight, her spirit will live on in the lives she touched.
A Memorial Gathering will be held at Lasting Tributes Cremation and Funeral Care on July 31st, from 11:00am-12;00pm where family and friends will gather to honor her memory and celebrate a life well lived.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Susie Dove; father Richard Gordon; stepfather Clagiet S. Dove; sister Carole McGowans, and brother Clagiet Dove. She is survived by sisters; Celeste Dove-McPherson (Crawford), and Lauren Dove, and devoted friend Carolyn Hunter Alston; as well as nieces, nephews and friends. May her soul rest in peace and may we all strive to honor her memory through acts of kindness and compassion.
