Ellen Louise Christenson's Obituary
Ellen L. Christenson, 82, passed away on December 21, 2023.
Ellen was born in Bronx, NY on October 8, 1941 to Charles Reisinger and Ann (Ciaci) Reisinger. She attended Sayville High School in Ronkonkoma, NY, graduating a year early in 1958. She attended Suffolk County Community College, graduating with a 2-year degree which then led to an administrative career at multiple state hospitals and a state school.
While on vacation in St. Thomas with some girlfriends in the late 1960s, Ellen met the love of her life when a U.S. Naval ship pulled into port. She was approached by a handsome Navy sailor who swept her off her feet, dancing the night away. Before they knew it, Ellen and Chris were married the following year and soon after started a family.
While her children were in elementary school, she volunteered at the school office and was part of the Parent Teacher Organization. When her children were old enough, she went back to work full-time at Hydrasearch Company, LLC for well over 20 years as the office manager. Upon her retirement, to stay busy she volunteered at the Clothes Box which was part of the Anne Arundel Medical Center. She was active in the St. Andrew by the Bay Parish, counting offertory money and involved in other parish groups.
Ellen loved traveling with Chris all over the country, visiting family and friends made while attending Chris’ ship reunions. Some of Ellen’s favorite activities were attending her kids and grandkids sports and school events. She was extremely proud of all of them. She enjoyed spending time with friends, having lunches, attending concerts for local artists and playing Bunko.
She is survived by her children: Stacey (Christenson) Parker (Brian Toronto), Thomas Christenson (Bre McGuiness) and step-son Robert Clifton (Jen); grandchildren: Liam, Nick (Lark), Kaylee, Allison, Colin, and Aiden; brothers: Charles Reisinger (Rose Marie), Robert Reisinger (Laura); multiple nieces, nephews and cousins.
Ellen is preceded in death by her husband George “Chris” Christenson of 53 years and her parents.
The funeral service will be at St. Andrew by the Bay Parish, 701 College Pkwy, Annapolis MD, 21409 on Wednesday, January 03, 2024, at 11 am, with a reception immediately following in the church upper hall.
