Elizabeth Ann Dockery's Obituary
Elizabeth “Betty” Ann Dockery, 86, of Bowie, MD passed away on December 23, 2017. She was born May 30, 1931 in Worcester, MA to Alfred and Emma Dumas. In 1949, Elizabeth graduated from Academy of the Sacred Heart and began working for an insurance agency. In 1955, Elizabeth married Edward Dockery, the love of her life. They were married for 61 years until Edward’s passing. Together they had two children. As their daughters got older, Elizabeth began a career at Giant Food, first in their department store, then to the garden center and lastly in the delicatessen of the grocery store.
Elizabeth was a member of Sacred Heart Church, Bowie, MD and attended daily mass, followed by gathering with her friends for morning breakfast. During her “retirement years”, she enjoyed gardening and spending time with family and friends. The highlight of her summers were the family vacations to Myrtle Beach. Her love of the ocean, dining out and evenings of miniature golf were enjoyed by everyone and created many lasting memories for the entire family.
Elizabeth’s parents and her siblings, Helen and Francis, preceded her in death. She leaves behind her brother, Robert Dumas; two daughters, Carol (Kevin) and Patty (Matt); and six grandchildren, Joey, Bobby, Jenny, Taylor, Ben, and Audrey. Elizabeth also leaves behind many nieces, nephews and friends that will miss her.
A viewing will be held at Lasting Tributes Funeral Home in Annapolis on January 3, 2018 from 10am to 11am. A funeral mass will be held afterwards at 11:30am at Sacred Heart Chapel in Bowie, MD.
