Edward Joseph Sheehan III, 81, passed away peacefully at Sunrise Senior Living in Annapolis, MD, on Sunday, October 12, 2025.
Ed was born in Brooklyn, NY, on November 24, 1943, the son of Edward J. Sheehan II and Florence M. Sheehan, and brother to Patricia. He attended John Adams High School in Queens, NY, where he met his high school sweetheart, Pamela. Ed and Pam were married on February 23, 1963, in Madrid, Spain, while he was serving as an airman in the United States Air Force. During their 32 years of marriage, they had five sons: Edward, Kenneth, Charles, Vincent, and Robert.
After leaving the Air Force, Ed worked for NASA on the Apollo 11 mission at the MSFN station in Dan Dan, Guam. Upon returning to New York, he accepted a position with Forma Scientific—later acquired by Thermo Fisher Scientific—where he spent more than 35 years as a field service technician, installing and repairing hospital and laboratory equipment. Ed was also an accomplished electrician, carpenter, and mason, and he proudly passed these skills on to his sons.
Ed is survived by his wife of 17 years, Rosemary; four of his sons, Edward, Kenneth, Charles, and Vincent; eight grandchildren, Nicholas, Brian, Robert, Kevin, Samuel, Jason, Kamryn, and Kaitlyn; and seven great-grandchildren, Simon, Luke, Sophia, Liam, Margaret, Penelope, and Louis.
