Edna Cora Edwards' Obituary
Edna Cora Edwards, affectionally known as ‘Granny,’ age 88 of Annapolis, Maryland was born on February 18, 1932 to Cora and Ben Colbert. She was the third of three siblings. She departed this life peacefully on February 7, 2021.
Edna received her education through the Anne Arundel County Public School System. Upon graduation, Edna was employed with Westinghouse Corporation where she resigned to take care of her loving mother.
Edna was lovingly united to the love of her life, Ernest N. Edwards on January 28, 1953. They were together in marriage for 67 years.
Edna was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and aunt. She received Christ at an early age and joined Fowler United Methodist Church, Annapolis, MD, under Rev. Charles Creek. During her tenure at Fowler she was a faithful member of the Chancel Choir, the UM Nurses Committee, United Methodist Women, a committed Usher, and she participated in many activities in the church. Moreover, she enjoyed spending time with her loving family and friends.
Edna is proceeded in death by her parents, Ben and Cora Colbert, her husband, Ernest N. Edwards, her daughter Brenda J. Oredein, brother Morris Peters, sister, Marion Colbert, and niece Shirley Hawkins.
Edna leaves cherished memories with her daughter Veronica Lee Edwards, granddaughter Jessica O. Anderson, grandson Rashaad A. Welcome Sr., great grandson Rashaad A. Welcome Jr., nieces Patricia Tiggs-Young, Betty Ann Smith Ellis and RoxAnne Peters Anderson, brother-in-law’s Gordon and Alphonse Edwards, a sister-in-law Audrey Better two dedicated friends of many years Betty C. Turner and Margaret V. Harris, her church family and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
