Edith Edwards' Obituary
Edith Edwards was born on Friday, February 14, 1930 Valentine’s Day, to the late Agnes B. Parker and Albert James Parker, in Lothian, Maryland. On Tuesday, June 23, 2015 quietly and peacefully Edith went home to her Lord and Savior after a lengthy illness at the age of 85.
Edith received her early education in Anne Arundel County Public Schools and did domestic work before joining Anne Arundel County Public Schools in 1966, as a Custodian at Southern Senior High School, where she retired after twenty-six years of service. Edith enjoyed playing the slots, cleaning, cooking and loved spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her favorite saying was, “My Boys Got My Back”. She was a member of Adams United Methodist Church in Lothian, Maryland before joining Fowlers United Methodist Church where she was a long time member and faithfully attended services until her health declined.
Edith was united in holy matrimony to the late Richard Edwards on July 9, 1954. With this union brought three sons: Ricardo, Patrick, and Dennis.
Edith leaves to rejoice in her memories; her three sons: Ricardo Edwards of Annapolis, MD, Patrick Edwards, Sr. of Glen Burnie, MD, and Dennis Edwards of Annapolis, MD; nine grandchildren: Lamar, Rafael Sr., Adrian, Dominique, Brandon Sr., Ke’Asia, Patrick Jr., DreShawn, and Mikayla; six great grandchildren: Rafael Jr., Richard G. Edwards, Brandon Jr., and Dorian. She was especially attached to Samya and Cydney in which they acknowledge her as “Eee-Eye”; three sisters: Agnes E. Parker of Fort Washington, MD, Lillie Abel of Annapolis, MD, Gertrude “Patsy” Dennis of Shady Side, MD; two brothers: Julius Parker of Edgewater, MD, Kenneth Parker of Columbus, GA; two sisters-in-law: Mary Parker and Ida Parker; brother-in-law, Virgil Mack Edwards; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and dear friends.
Edith was preceded in death by hers sisters: Ella Parker, Pauline Downs, and Blanche Tasker, one brother William Parker; sisters-in-law: Selma Parker, Sarah J. Butler, Carrier Parsons, Anna Queen, Cora Tyler, Estella Whitaker, Maggie Poole, and Alice Watkins; and brother-in-laws: Harry, James, Daniel, and Leo Edwards, Thomas Tasker, John Downs Sr., Norvell Dennis, and Ernest Abel.
