Earnest Hugh Seborg's Obituary
We regret to announce the passing of (Earnest) Hugh Seborg aged 90, who passed away peacefully on July 23, 2024 in Annapolis, Maryland after a lengthy illness with pneumonia. He was born on July 28, 1933, in Kankakee, Illinois to Dorella Mercier and Earnest Young Seborg. His father held a Mechanical Engineering degree from University of Illinois. He was predeceased by two sisters, Sandra Christensen, & Jean Seborg and his parents.
He was educated at the U.S. Naval Academy, where he earned the degree of Bachelor of Science. He excelled academically at the Air Force Institute of Technology earning Master of Electrical Engineering, and the University of Connecticut attaining Master of Business Administration.
Hugh, Col. USAF Ret., was a respected member of his profession for 28 years and known for his service to his country. After retiring from the Air Force he worked for the Illinois Institute of Technology Research Institute, Defense Contract Management Agency, and the Department of Defense.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Hugh was a devoted family man, who loved his wife, Lucile, four children, nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren above all else. His love of God, gentle nature, fierce loyalty and guiding hand made him a cherished and loyal friend to many.
In his free time, Hugh enjoyed fishing, hunting, and learning something new every day, which brought him joy and relaxation. He was also a member of Gideons International for 52 years and Finance chair and Bible study leader at St. Paul’s Anglican Church, actively supporting and contributing to spreading the word of God. Hugh wanted his legacy to live on through his family and encouraged them to grow in their Christian faith. He felt it was important for the family to take care of each other.
Hugh is survived by his wife, Lucile, four children: Brian(Kimberly) Seborg, Kevin(Yvette) Seborg, Dorrie Seborg and Sherri(Christopher) Hall; nine grandchildren: Susan(Joey) Rackley, Brandon(Kaitlin) Seborg, Lorrie(Jon) Fava, Brittany(Jake) Wolod, Christi(Ryan) Jones, Connor(Madison) Hall, Abbie(Austin)Rethwisch, Breanne Hall, and Amelia Hall; six great grandchildren: Hadley and Jake Fava, Josiah and Elijah Wolod, Castiel Jones, and Lux Rackley, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
A funeral service will be held at Mid Atlantic Community Church, 2485 Davidsonville Road, Gambrills, MD on August 24 at 11 am, with a private interment to follow at the U.S. Naval Academy. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Gideons International, Anne Arundel Central Camp, P.O. Box 6741, Annapolis, MD 21401.
Hugh will be dearly missed by all who knew him, but his legacy will live on through his family, friends, and colleagues.
