Dorothy Stone's Obituary
Dorothy Louise Ritchie Stone, age 74, of Cape St. Claire, MD., passed away at her home on Friday, January 4, 2013, after a lengthy illness.
This Coal Miners daughter was born in the mountains of southwest Virginia on April 10, 1938, on Sandy Ridge to the late Charlie and Lorine (Jones) Ritchie. She moved to Maryland and married the late Harry L. Stone Sr., and raised her family in Cheverly, MD before moving to Cape St. Claire in 1974. She had a love for country and bluegrass.
She leaves behind three daughters: Betsy Johnson of Chester, MD, Laura Stone of Cape St. Claire, and Amy Kandy of Church Hill, MD; three sons: Harry Stone, Jr. of Silver Springs, MD, David Stone and John Stone of Cape St. Claire; as well as eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Also surviving her are a brother Charles “Bud” Ritchie of Hendersonville, TN, and a sister, Phyllis Upperman of Front Royal, VA. She was predeceased by her parents, husband, and a brother, Omar Ritchie.
A visitation will be held on January 9, 2013 from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM at Lasting Tributes Cremation and Funeral Care, 814 Bestgate Rd., Annapolis, MD 21401. A funeral service will be held on January 10, 2013 at 11:00 AM at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Lakemont Memorial Gardens in Davidsonville, MD.
