Dorothy Rebecca Hart's Obituary
Dorothy Rebecca Hart, age 90, passed away peacefully on May 19, 2020. Dorothy was born on April 5, 1930 in Louisville, KY to James Marion Hart Sr. and Anna Louise (Thomas) Hart. She is survived by an older sister, Juanita (Hart) Pfaff, 1 niece and 7 nephews. She was predeceased by her parents and 2 siblings, James Marion Hart Jr. and Mildred (Hart) Tharp.
Dorothy graduated from Louisville Girls High School in 1948 and worked for several years before attending Emmaus Bible School in Oak Park, Illinois. She received a diploma from Emmaus in 1957 and then worked for the school for several years before returning to Louisville where she was employed in a variety of positions.
In 1987, she relocated to Alexandria, VA and worked for the US Government for the next 31 years. She worked in multiple departments, most recently as a secretary for the Defense Health Agency in Falls Church, VA. She retired in February 2019, at the age of 88, due to health issues. She has been a resident at Sunrise of Annapolis since November 2018.
In addition to being a dedicated federal employee, Dorothy was an accomplished seamstress and made all of her clothes for many years.
Due to current circumstances and restrictions, a public service will not be held. A private family visitation will be held, with burial in Louisville, KY at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to a local food bank or charity of your choice in Dorothy’s name.
