Dorothy Ann Giaraffa's Obituary
Dorothy Ann Giaraffa died peacefully on December 30, 2022 at Anne Arundel Medical Center after a brief illness. She was 94.
Mrs. Giaraffa was born in Baltimore, one of eight children of Roman and Ida Niec. Dorothy was a graduate of Southern High School in Federal Hill and retired from the Baltimore County Library.
Dorothy met her future husband at Cahill's Dance Hall in their hometown of Baltimore. When they danced, couples would stop and make room to watch.
She married O. Joseph Giaraffa in 1950 in Oceanside California while he was stationed at Camp Penelton Marine Base. They returned to Maryland and raised a family of four children in Baltimore County. After retiring they moved to Heritage Harbour in Annapolis where she was a resident for the last 26 years.
She was a devoted mother and grandmother who loved her children and family. Dorothy also loved sewing and needlework and crossword puzzles. She was a member of St Marys Church in Annapolis.
Surviving are two loving sons Michael Giaraffa of Tampa Bay, Florida and Charles Giaraffa of Annapolis, as well as two loving daughters Rosemary Nye of Linthicum and Maggie Morgan-Lamb of Pasadena. She is also survived by six grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
