Donald Gilbert McCoy Sr's Obituary
Donald G. McCoy Sr., a proud Korean War veteran and a beloved father, grandfather, and friend, passed away peacefully at the age of 95 on 3/16/25. He was born in June of 1929 in Southern Indiana.
Donald served with distinction in the United States Army, where he was assigned to the 1st Cavalry Medical Division during the Korean War. His bravery and selflessness in the face of danger earned him two Bronze Stars, a testament to his courage and commitment to the well-being of his fellow soldiers. After being honorably discharged from the Army, Don spent his career at Aberdeen Proving Ground, contributing to numerous significant technological advancements and earning several patents for his innovative work.
He is survived by his son, Don McCoy Jr., his daughter-in-law Pam McCoy, and his four granddaughters Stacey Lee, Kelly McCoy, Katie McCoy, and Nicole McCoy.
There will be a brief private service followed by interment at the Veterans Cemetery in Crownsville, MD.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Shriners Children’s Hospital in Donald’s memory.
