Wende and Laurie, We are so sad to read of Don's death. We remember Don years ago when we were living in Hillmead and all of us raising our children together. Every evening he would go past our house on the corner when he walked Ginger and stop if we were out front to chat. Our party get-togethers were so much fun and memorable, even after all these years. Wendy, Ron Peake here. I was sad to read of Don’s passing. It brought back memories beginning in Garrison Jr High when I sat behind Don in class. When the teacher called the roll she mispronounced our names as “Merck” and “Perk”. Don, in his own style corrected the teacher and said our names are MACK and PEAKE. Our friendship continued through high school and college and then we met again in the famous 135th ANG. I still remember those pitch and gin games. My deepest sympathy to you and your family.

A wonderful friendly dependable volunteer with CPAM. He freely shared his memories and knowledge of his life. His presence at the museum made it a better place.
As a childhood friend of Laurie, his daughter, “Mr. Mack” will always hold a very special place in my heart. I will always remember him as an engaged father who was a caring, gentle man with a very big heart.
