Donald "Chuck" Helton, Jr.'s Obituary
Donald Charles Helton JR, “Chuck” passed away in Annapolis MD on July 14, 2023. Born in Milwaukee WI June 7, 1947. He was the son of the late Donald and Lona Helton. He is survived by a sister, Anne Gomer, her husband and 2 nephews.
He graduated from Twin Lakes High School, Monticello Indiana in 1965 and joined the Army soon after. He served 4 years as a Military Policeman in Germany and Italy. After the Army, he attended York College in York Pennsylvania. He worked at Montgomery Ward, Aerospace and Sunsail to name a few. Chuck then moved on to start his own successful marine refrigeration business, Helton Marine Refrigeration, Inc.
Chuck made many friends along the way with his jovial live life to its fullest attitude. He owned and lived aboard many sailboats in his 30 some years of living in Annapolis. He was a man who never had an unkind word towards anyone, who would always help a fellow boater with free marine refrigeration services if they didn’t have the cash flow, and who made time to connect with people face to face. He loved to dabble in the stock market, laugh, smoke, drink, and spend quality time with his friends. He liked telling stories of his travels while in the Army and dreamed of fixing up his old VW Van to go road tripping to see his many friends and to finally see Mount Rushmore.
Chuck had a special place in his heart for St Jude Children's Hospital. He loved the fact that families never receive a bill for treatment there. Donations can be made to St Jude in his name.
A memorial will be held on August 26, 2023. If you would like to attend please email Sally at [email protected]
