Diana Lavely's Obituary
Diana Rochelle Lavely, 84, of Seminole, Florida, died Monday, March 04, 2019.
She was born to the late Joseph and Maria Cecilia Dono on April 15, 1934 in Brooklyn, New York. Diana spent most of her formative years in Westchester County and Long Island, NY, before moving with family to Colorado Springs, CO, where she graduated from High School. In 1960, she married the late USN Captain Lawrence William Lavely with whom she shared 6 children. As a military family, they enjoyed living all over the United States and the Philippines and eventually settled in Alexandria, Va.
Diana spent most of her career as a Real Estate Agent but was also an Antique Shop owner. More importantly, she was known as an incredible, loving mother to her six children.
Diana was also an active member of the Glades Community in Seminole, Florida where she served as the President of the HOA for many years. Her hobbies included landscape design, gardening, swimming and tennis, interior decorating and staging homes, playing bridge as well as participating in Texas Hold‘em Poker Tournaments. She also authored her own cookbook, “Are you Hungry? Are you Sure?” to ensure her wonderful Italian American recipes are enjoyed for generations to come. She spent the last 20 years of her life in sunny Seminole, Florida where she enjoyed the beautiful beaches, cruises and visits to the Caribbean Islands.
Diana is survived by her six children; Susan, Stefanie, Deborah, Sandra, Eric and Jonathan and her seven grandchildren; Benjamin, Kelley, Jacob, Nathan, Jonathan, Liam and Gavin.
In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made out to the Alzheimer’s Association (alz.org/donate).
